  • At the conclusion of this program, the participant will be able to:

    TOPIC 1: What is Integrative and Lifestyle Medicine

    1. Discuss the components and principles of integrative medicine. 2. Describe manipulative medicine. 3. List the various components of precision medicine. 4. Review how to implement lifestyle changes for your patients.

    TOPIC 2: Functional Nutrition and Herbal Therapy

    1. Describe clinical nutrition. 2. Review biochemical pathways in fatty acids and neurotransmitters . 3. Review Herbal therapy components. 4. List components of food and their healing components. 5. List what to take out of the diet that leads to disease. 6. Describe the important components of the GI tract. 7. Determine the best mix of pro and anti-inflammatory foods should be in a diet. 8. Identify foods that cause oxidative stress and and that contain antioxidants.

    TOPIC 3: Detoxication

    1. Describe phase 1,2, and 3 detoxifications 2. Review the importance of gallbladder and liver. 3. Describe herbal remedies that detoxify the liver, gallbladder, and GI tract.

  • At the conclusion of this program, the participant will be able to:

    TOPIC 1 : The Process of Inflammation and Pain Review

    1. Review the immune system-inflammation response. 2. Identify the role of the endocrine-nervous and immune system axis.3. List the mediators of pain. 4. Describe the 5 inflammatory mediators. 5. Discuss how inflammation is important in the initial immune response. 6. Discuss the role of the GI tract in inflammation and pain. 7. Review substance P and other components that cause pain. 8. List the laboratory tests the are inflammatory markers.

    TOPIC 2: Therapies for Inflammation and pain

    1. Identify pathways of inflammation and oxidative stress and products that may help them. 2. Determine the best mix of anti-inflammatory foods should be in a diet. 3. Discuss lifestyle changes that need to be made in inflammation and pain. 4.

    Topic 3: Integrative Therapies for mental health and sleep management

    1. List biochemical components of sleep. 2. Discuss the role of lifestyle in sleep, pain, anxiety, and depression.

    3. Describe sleep hygiene. 4. Identify natural sleep and brain health aids.

  • At the conclusion of this program, the participant will be able to:

    TOPIC 1: Systems thinking: Treating Inflammatory conditions

    List how to incorporate integrative medicine strategies into your practice. 2. Identify the systems approach when treating inflammatory conditions and pain. 3. Review alternative treatments for pain and inflammation

    TOPIC 2: Review Inflammatory Disease

    1. Review Long-COVID, inflammation symptoms, intake and resolution. 2. Review Diabetes, Inflammation symptoms, intake and resolution. 3. Review Cardiovascular Disease symptoms, intake and resolution.3.

    Review Autoimmune Disease symptoms, intake and resolution.

Conference Credit

PHARMACISTS :University Learning Systems is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. These programs are accredited for pharmacists. This program provides 15 hours over 3 days of ACPE live credit.

NURSE PRACTITIONERS/ NURSES: This course provides 15 contact hours (1.5 CEU) over three days, 5 hours per day, to fulfill the pharmacotherapeutics/ pharmacology requirements for American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Category 1 Continuing Education Hours  for certification renewal. The same hours submitted to renew certification may be submitted to a State Board of Nursing for re-licensure. American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) accepts formally approved continuing education sponsored by organizations accredited or approved by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).

PHYSICIANS: Application to AAFP has been filed. A determination of credit is pending. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. AAFP Prescribed credit is accepted by the American Medical Association as equivalent to AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ toward the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award.  When applying for the AMA PRA, Prescribed credit earned must be reported as Prescribed, not as Category 1.  CME programs approved by the AAFP are eligible for Category 2 credit  (or Category 1-A  under special circumstances) through the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).

PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS: American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) accepts certificates of participation for educational activities certified for Prescribed credit from AAFP. Physician assistants may report the number of hours stated above of Category I credit for completing this program.

CONSULTANT PHARMACISTS: Some consultant pharmacist boards accept University Learning Systems courses for recertification either as is or with board approval. Please contact your board regarding course approval and ULS with any questions.

CANADIAN PHARMACISTS: Canadian Council on Continuing Education in Pharmacy (CCCEP) accepts courses accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).  This credit is applicable to health professionals who may require pharmacology credit.

CANADIAN PHYSICIANS: Members of the College of Family Physicians of Canada are eligible to receive up to 15 MAINPRO-M1 credits for participation in this activity due to reciprocal agreement with the American Academy of Family Physicians.

CHIROPRACTORS: Application for chiropractic credit is has been filed with Northeast College of Health Sciences.

Attrition Surcharge

If you do not make reservations and stay at the hotel where University Learning Systems has reserved a block of rooms, you must add the attrition surcharge to the conference fee. Staying at hotel with an offer other than the ULS Group Code such as through a third party booking, still requires payment of the Attrition Surcharge*. 2023/2024 Hotel Attrition Surcharge: $50 ULS will verify all rooming/cabin information with the hotel /travel agent and the hotel /travel agent has the right to release pertinent information to ULS for all attendees. No credit will be reported until the Attrition Surcharge is satisfied. We apologize for any inconvenience.
