At the conclusion of this program, the participant should be able to:
- Identify the metabolic syndrome, review cardiometabolic contributors and risk factors, and describe the progression of this syndrome
- Review current guideline recommendations for the management of hypertension
- Review current guideline recommendations for the management of dyslipidemia
- Review current guideline recommendations for the management of “prediabetes” and type 2 diabetes
- Compare and contrast the pharmacology (appropriate roles in therapy, risks, benefits and differences) between the major drug classes used in the treatment of dyslipidemia, dyslipidemia, diabetes, and arthritis
- Review new evidence regarding pharmacotherapy for the treatment of hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes, and arthritis
- When given a patient with metabolic syndrome, devise an appropriate pharmacotherapy treatment plan that can treat cardiometabolic risk factors
