After participating in this session, the participant will be able to:

  • Apply the STEPS (Safety-Tolerability-Effectiveness-Price-Simplicity of use) method to medical decision making for various patient scenarios, highlighting cardiovascular, pulmonary and endocrine disorders.
  • Incorporate adherence training and motivational interviewing techniques to support improved outcomes for patients.
  • Perform a risk to benefit analysis when evaluating drug regimens for older adults to maximize quality of life, weighing the potential benefits of preventative therapies against risks when discontinuing drugs to lower costs and simplify care.
