At the conclusion of this session, you should be able to:
Describe the relationship between obesity and the risk of Type 2 diabetes and the benefits of lifestyle modification (IE diet and exercise) in reducing the risk and helping to manage patients with Type 2 diabetes
Describe the current 2009 ADA clinical practice guidelines for the diagnosis and management of diabetes mellitus.
Discuss the appropriate use of insulin, exanitide and oral agents in the management of patients with Type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Describe the benefits of treating both blood pressure and lipids in patients with Type 2 diabetes
Discuss the potential benefits and risks of aggressive treatment of glucose in patients with Type 2 diabetes
